So, here are my new teacher pants. I am starting field this week and it is so fun. However, I was told I needed "teacher pants." No jeans allowed, ever, or else. . . How fun. I really haven't ever had a reason to go business casual, so all I really had was jeans, and skirts, but no slacks. So, last night I went to the local thrift store, (student budget is even lower than a teacher budget) and bought 3 pairs of slacks. And I must say, this pair worked great. I went to teach in the lovely Elementary School just about a mile down the road from my house. I am having my 3 week field experience in a great 6th grade class. Today was good. The teacher is great! She is kind and yet firm. She is very focused on her parent-teacher conferences which start today. My field partner and I just meandered around, helping students to focus, and being fearful for next week when we begin teaching, I think. We're still a little unclear about when and what we will be teaching, but at least now we know "who." They are a super great bunch of kids.
Love the pants, Laurie. I am wondering how my own wardrobe is going to supply me with the necessaries to suit the dress code, too. I'm glad you are enjoying the class and that you have a good teacher to work with.

My partner and I were super nervous this week thinking about when we were going to teach, but we got it over with and it went fantastic! We can't wait to teach again on Monday! I know you will do great!! :) I hope your cooperating teacher will be more inclusive and talk through the details with you so you won't be so nervous! :) Good luck!
ReplyDeleteLove your pants, I had to get a few things to wear to class also. I was really nervouse about teaching my first lesson as well, but it went really smoothly. However, the lesson I taught was one of the teachers lessons so that made me more confident. On Monday we will be teaching our own lesson... YIKES! I know your lesson will be great, you have such a warm personality I am sure that will be reflected in your teaching.
