It has only been a week since I have seen everyone but can I just tell you all how much I already miss you!! It sounds like everyone is having fun time in field and I am excited to hear more about your experiences.
I have had a great first few days of field! My cooperating teacher is really nice and patient with the kids. I am amazed at how well she manages her students! The class listens to the teacher and they have a great respect for her. I have already learned so much from her and I am excited to continue to learn from her. I am really excited to get to know my students and to get to work with them!!
The first week of field we have been with the students for language arts, math, specialties, and recess. My field partner and I have not taught yet but our first lesson that we will teach will be on Tuesday.
My favorite part of the day would probably have to be math. My teacher did a fun activity using dice to help the students learn greatest common factors. The students really loved the game, learned the material, and were involved. I also really liked going to choir with our kids. They are learning Christmas songs for their Christmas performance.
This week it is my goal to learn as many students names as I can and to learn more about each of them. I feel that when I am able to connect with students I am better able to help them. This week I did a lot of observing and trying to help the teacher in any way that I can. I am going to find ways that I can better help my teacher and my students. I am really excited for this week and the chance that I have to be in field!! Have a great week everyone!!
Nikki,
ReplyDeleteIt’s so great to hear that you and your partner are doing well in field! I’m excited to hear about how your first lesson on Tuesday goes, good luck girls (not that you need any luck because I know you’ll both be amazing). What subject are you teaching? My field partner and I will be teaching our very first lesson on Wednesday in language arts. I’m super anxious and thrilled to finally be teaching, I just hope that we can successfully manage thirty students. I also have been trying to remember students names this week, I feel bad when I can’t recall a name but hopefully I can get them mastered soon. - Have a wonderful week!
It sounds like you are having so much fun! Those math activities sound really interesting. Math is proving to be very difficult for the class we are in. It's hard to come up with new concepts to help students understand. We played a really fun card game where you basically play war but use your times tables instead of taking the card that is the biggest. I think I finally have all the students names down! It is hard to help them without knowing them individually. Good luck this week! :)
ReplyDeleteSounds like a good game to play with students to help them learn math. Good luck with your goal. I'll quiz you when you get back:)
