I have been going through each comment/post. Wow, it seems like you all are having a great experience. I'm sorry I can't comment on everyone but I have been reviewing them. Field is so exciting and fun especially when you are able to work in the classroom. Thanks for telling your stories.
Here are the questions again if any of you need them.
- Describe your teaching day.
- Describe your favorite part of the day.
- What went well, what didn't work so well, and what would you change or do differently?
- To help your students you would...
See you in a few weeks and yes this week you will have your grades for Digital Storytelling and SMART lesson:)
Hey Dr. Hudgins!
ReplyDeleteI sent you an email but I haven't heard back from you! I am still not a contributor to the blog so I am unable to post about my experiences! :( Can you fix that for me? Thanks so much!!! :) I have LOVED reading through the posts too!! :) Field is a BLAST!!!! :)
I haven't been able to post either but they're written so I'll just post it here until I figure it out I guess.
ReplyDeleteSECOND WEEK
This week went very well and was even more fun than the first! We still have pretty much the same schedule as the first week as far as how the teaching day goes, but i felt like this week was so much more enjoyable because I'm getting to know the students better as individuals and they are starting to feel more comfortable around me as well! Just walking around and being able to help the students brings joy to me when they understand something, or figure it out.
My favorite part of the day is probably science and math because it's easier to help the students because I know more about those subjects and am able to help more during those times of the day which makes it more enjoyable. Another one of my favorite parts is one particular boy in our class has a hearing disability and I was able to help him with an assignment one day, and every day since then I look forward to him walking into the classroom and giving me a huge smile and waving at me! Makes me feel happy and glad I was able to make a difference in his life and him in mine.
In our lesson this week I thought it went really well other than we kind of ran out of time so it would have been nice to have more time. But I thought the lesson itself went really well and the students learned a lot from it. We used the synectics model which our observer said was very brave of us on our second lesson ever. So the students really enjoyed voting and thinking up knew ideas and figuring out how to connect things to each other. The only thing that I would say didn't go real well was that we need to remember to tell the student not to move or do anything until instructed to. We also need to constantly remind them not to be disrespectful to other students ideas.
To Help my students in my classroom I would do just as my cooperating teacher does and make sure my class is managed as well as hers is because it makes it easier on every body when you have a good quiet but fun learning environment the students feel safe in.
