Hello my friends!!
Just wanted to let you know how much I miss you all. I hope your field experiences are going great. Mine sure is. First of all, I have the greatest partner ever! Brooke is great with the children and we are looking forward to the next few weeks. It amazes me how when you get into the 'real world' there are so many unique personalities and different ways that children learn and work. Our teacher is great at meeting the needs of her class and one of the things I am so impressed with her is that when she talks to the children, they have her undivided attention. She makes eye contact and really listens to what they have to say. So far, we have experienced math lessons, including multiplication timed tests, and also an end of chapter test. We have assisted with poems and making fall leaf art work using tissue paper leaves. Those art projects turned out great! Because of teacher conferences on Wednesday and Thursday, our school was off on Friday. We will be teaching about Native Americans and on Monday we will meet with our teacher and devise our plans of action. I love being with the children. They are so willing to be accepting to us. They welcome us into their classroom with great enthusiasm. I love it! I think my favorite part of the day is simply being with the children. They make me smile. Well, hopefully we will soon be teaching and can share our fun with you. Take care and enjoy your field experiences!!
You get to teach about the native americans too? I get to do that too. Maybe you could float some ideas my way.....LOL!
ReplyDeleteHi cute Sandy!! You are going to be so loved by the kids in your class. I really like how you talked about how your teacher gives her students her undivided attention. My teacher does that as well and I think that it is a really great quality to have because it makes the students feel important and cared about. Good luck teaching on Monday! You will do great! We start our lessons as well so hopefully next week we don't have too many horror stories!
ReplyDeleteHey Sandy, I also miss the class but I am LOVING being in the classroom. Your teacher sounds awesome, I think really giving students your full attention is so important but it can be hard when there are so many students who want your attention. I feel like my teacher does an amazing job of this also, she really takes to heart what her students say and there is so much respect. Good luck on Monday it sounds like the students are in for a treat. You and Brooke are such great people I am sure the students love you both already. Have a wonderful week!
ReplyDeleteHi Sandy! I just know that you and Brooke will be an awesome team in Field!
ReplyDeleteI liked what you said about there being so many different personalities and ways of learning for all the different students. It's like being a mom...e.g., having six children and no two are the same! With a classroom of 30...and still, no two are alike.
That's so wonderful that your teacher has great eye contact while she's talking to her students! I hope to be a teacher like that. I want to make each child feel just as important as the next, no matter where they fall on the "abilities scale."
I feel the same way...about your favorite part of the day being with the children. They make me smile too. I feel happy and comfortable in the school setting. Hopefully I won't have to take that back after teaching. Ha! I'm a tiny bit nervous about that.
Sandy we miss you too! Even though we are in the same school right next door, we don't get the train ride together. I'm glad things are going so well for you. I love seeing a teacher who has so much respect form her students. That is what I hope I can learn to gain when I am a teacher.
ReplyDeleteI love being with the children too! They have a way of bringing a smile to my face every time I see them. Out on the playground the students from the class I'm in would smile and wave or come over and talk to me. It's so much fun!
I'm so glad to read you love it and the kids are good to you. I miss you all too.
ReplyDeleteI am glad you got to work with the students and poems, you are the Poem queen!! It sounds like you are having so much fun, which is the best part about field work. Hope you have a good rest of your time in the field!
