1. Describe your teaching day?
My partner and I go to school in the morning. We are there from 9 to 12:30. In the mornings the class does DOL, a oral language workbook. Then we have been able to teach 3 lessons so far. One social studies and two math lessons. Then they have Dear- which is drop everything and read time, the teacher has a planning period while they are in keyboarding, then they have guided reading after that, then lunch.
2. Describe your favorite part of the day?
I personally love the oral corrections of the DOLs and the math lessons so far. The class we are in are very good kids and pretty smart too.
3. What went well,what didn't work,what did you change?
When we taught our first lesson in social studies, we taught about the Utah Indians and we found a cool song to start the lesson off which I think the kids enjoyed. We then had the students read along in their Utah books and introduce the different tribes. Because of time issues it was a very brief introduction to the tribes. I think I would of changed instead of us doing all the reading I would of had a few students read also.
4. To help your students this week you will?
Tomorrow we are being observed on a Math Lesson. We are teaching about Divisibility Rules and we know that for some students this will be easy and for others hard. So we made a poster for the class with some hints that the teacher will keep up for the class and we are hoping that we will help make this lesson easy for them to understand.
Good luck with the observation. I'm sure you will do great.
