Welcome to our adventures in student teaching pre-service field experience. This is where we will learn from each other and how everyone is managing their field experience.
Please let us know how your day is going. What it is like to be a pre-service student teacher, what it is like to work with 4th and 5th grade students. What you are learning, how your lessons are going, what students are learning, and if you have any AHA moments. This will be a fun way to take a walk through your classroom.
During your field experience you are to post DAILY about your experiences, discuss what you learned, tell us what it is like teaching/working with students, provide recommendations you would give others, etc. You may use the above questions as a guide.
Each person in class is to respond once a week to 3 other classmates. You may provide pick-me-ups, advice, comments, and any other help and/or comments you would like.
Each daily post should be at least 3-4 paragraphs in length. Each comment should be the same regarding length. Do not comment to the same person. Each week you should read and comment to a different classmate.
Remember you are the window to your classroom. So let us know what is going on:)
Yippee! I am teaching in a 5th grade classroom. We will be covering the social studies unit about explorers.

ReplyDeleteI will be teaching 5th grade students. I am still not sure what subjects I will be teaching yet, but I don't really care what I teach I just want to teach. I am beyond excited to be teaching in the school system again. However, I will admit that I am still super nervous about the idea.
ReplyDeleteMy field partner is Jamie North, and we're going to be teaching about ancient Egypt in a 6th grade classroom.
ReplyDeleteI am teaching in the fourth grade and super excited!
ReplyDeleteMy partner and I will be teaching fourth graders. We are so excited. We will be teaching some social studies, and helping to teach them long division.
ReplyDeleteTeaching Sixth Grade!
ReplyDeleteI will be teaching in a sixth grade class for my field experience. My cooperating teacher hasn't told me what she would like me to teach yet, so I feel a little in the dark, but I'm hopeful it will be a fun experience! I am both nervous and excited.
ReplyDeleteI am SO EXCITED to get into field!!! Mikaila and I will have so much fun with those 5th graders! :) Can't wait to tell you all about it! :)
ReplyDeleteField Experience is creeping up on us! AHA! I am extremely nervous about it, my teacher has very high expectations for me and my partner. Plus its a dual immersion classroom and I do not speak Spanish. I will be teaching sixth grade and have been asked to teach science, so if you have any fun ideas please share them with me!
ReplyDeleteI am so excited for November! A lot of new experiences ahead! :)
ReplyDelete5th grade is where I'm gonna be.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to be working in a sixth-grade class, and I'm so excited! I get to work at the school my younger kids attend (try not to be jealous). My cooperating fieldwork teacher seems really great. She has filled us in on when she teaches what, and she is allowing us to teach social studies for the 3-4 weeks we'll be there. It's going to be a lot of fun! (Also, I won't have to pay for gas to get from Payson to Orem for that period of time, which will be awesome!)
ReplyDeleteOwning my comment--it's me!
DeleteMy field partner and I are going to be working in the sixth grade classroom. We are planning on helping out with social studies. I am excited for field but I am not going to lie, I am a little bit nervous. I love working with kids!
ReplyDeleteMy field partner and I will be teaching 4th grade. I'm really excited to get inside a classroom and start learning more about becoming a teaching and putting my education to some good use!
ReplyDeleteI will be teaching 4th grade! I get to teach a unit on the 5 tribes of Utah, which I am so excited about because I just taught a lesson on this a few weeks ago! Oh Ya! I will also get to teach some math lessons, which I love! I met my cooperating teacher and absolutely love her! I can't wait!
ReplyDeleteI will be teaching social studies with my partner in an awesome 5th grade classroom! Our Unit will be on the Revolutionary War which will be a lot of fun!
ReplyDeleteI will be doing my field experience in the 4th grade classroom. I am really excited to start going into the classroom and getting the opportunity to learn how to interact with the students and learn more hands on techniques to add to my teaching experience.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to be in a sixth grade class in Nebo School District. I'm pretty excited, but also very nervous. My teacher graduated from UVU about four years ago, so she understands really well what's going on and is totally willing to help out in any way she can. Karen and I can use her lesson plans, or create our own. I think field should go pretty well.
ReplyDeleteI am teaching fourth grade with Kamrie Wolfe. We are going to be teaching long division while we are in field. Its going to be a great learning experience since we haven't quite done this in the program yet. Our corresponding teacher is the sweetest lady, so we are really excited to be with her!
ReplyDeleteI am very excited to be going to field with Brooke. She will be the best partner ever! We will be going to a fourth grade class in Jordan District. I think the only thing I will be sorry about is missing the best cohort ever. It will also be nice not to have to worry about catching the bus every day. I will look forward to hearing all of your adventures. Good-luck!
ReplyDeleteI will be teaching 5th grade during my field experience. My cooperating teacher is male. I'm looking forward to that; most of the elementary school teachers I've met in the past have been female, My fourth grade teacher was male, and he was my favorite elementary school teacher. He had us do several performances for our parents, which were fun. Also, I've noticed that when male substitutes come to elementary schools, the students (especially at recess) get super enthused. I am hoping to teach 2nd grade after I finish school. I have been in 5th grade classes before. This is an age where (typically) pre-adolescent "attitudes" begin to show up. I'm happy, though, to be doing 5th grade now, because topics are more in depth in the older grades.
ReplyDeleteI am so excited for field and am looking forward to working with my field partner Sandy. We were assigned to the 4th grade. I am especially excited for this assignment because I have a daughter who is currently in 4th grade. I have run many ideas for lesson past her.
ReplyDeleteI will be teaching 6th grade at Scera Elementary! I am super excited to get into the classroom. I am a little nervous that they are 6th graders because I lean towards more of the younger students. I just met with my teacher yesterday and we discussed my partner and I doing our unit on Egypt. I loved learning about Egypt when I was in elementary school so I am really happy about all the fun lessons we will be able to come up with!
ReplyDeleteI will be teaching in a 6th grade class of 39 students!!! I am super excited and nervous at the same time! 39 kids is A LOT of classroom management! We are actually going to be teaching science so it is going to be a great learning experience!
ReplyDeleteWow, Jenessa. That's a big class! Good luck!
